Why 108 is considered auspicious and sacred in Hinduism ?
Ever wondered, why 108 is considered as auspicious and sacred number. No it is not by chance , it actually conveys a large meaning with simple but extremely advanced logic.
As you must be aware that there are 27 Nakshatra or Constellations, representing the immediate Universe or our galaxy and each Nakshatra represents various manifestation of God, additionally, each Nakshatra has 4 Pada representing 4 Objective of Dharma meaning Right Act, Artha meaning Economic Prosperity, Kama meaning Desire Fulfillment, Moksha meaning Eternal Liberation.
These Pada also represent 4 Tatva ( Elements - Fir,Earth, Air , Water) . Dharma represents Fire, Artha represents Earth, Kama represents Air and Moksha represents Water , additionally each of 4 direction represents specific Pada, Element and Objective which also is foundation of Vaastu Shastra ( Architecture Design)
These Pada are also generally identified in Hindi by Paav,Foot, Charan and in layman language termed as of of Gold, Silver, Bronze, Iron.
108, thus, represents possible unique combination of all Pada in 27 Nakshatra (108= 27*4) and representing all manifestation of God .
