These Pada are also generally identified in Hindi by Paav,Foot, Charan and in layman language termed as of of Gold, Silver, Bronze, Iron.

108, thus,  represents possible  unique combination of all Pada in 27 Nakshatra  (108= 27*4) and representing all manifestation of God .

Accordingly, the concept of Jyotish was also build where 9 Planets were  placed in 12 zodiacs (108 divided by 9 is 12) and off these 12 house or Rashi (Zodiac Sign) , 3 each are allocated to Dharma, Arth , Kama , Moksha.

Impressively, 3 each also has meaning which represent three Guna or Nature- Satvik meaning Pure and filled with Goodness , Rajsik meaning Passion and Action oriented towards desire fulfillment, Tamsik meaning destruction, resistance, inertia, ignorance.

Thus 108 also represents  possible combination of 3 Guna , 4 Objectives and 9 Planets ( 3*4*9= 108).
